Chapin graduate completes basic at Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island

Chapin, SC - PFC Conrad P. Kerr, 20, of Chapin, SC graduates from United States Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island on July 31, 2020. PFC Kerr successfully completed 2 weeks of quarantine and 13 weeks of intense basic training at MCRD Parris Island as a recruit in Training Platoon 3053. While in recruit training PFC Kerr earned the coveted "Crossed Rifles" of the Rifle

Expert badge and advanced swim Combat Water Survival, Second Class (CWS2) honors. Additionally, PFC Kerr was selected to represent Training Platoons 3052 and 3053 as the Follow Series Guide during the July 31st graduation ceremony.

Due to COVID19, boot leave has been canceled. PFC Kerr will report directly to Camp Geiger for one month of Military Combat Training then report to his designated Military Occupation Specialty school. PFC Kerr moved to Chapin, SC when he was 5 years old and attended Chapin Elementary, Chapin Middle and Chapin High School, where he was Co-Captain of the Chapin Men’s Basketball team during his senior year and received All-Region honors in his junior year. PFC Kerr graduated from Chapin High School in 2018.
