Lexington County man charged with attempted murder after firing shots toward home Sunday

Gaston, SC (Paul Kirby) – A Lexington County man has been charged after firing shots into a Gaston area home on Sunday, August 16, 2020. According to Captain Adam Myrick of the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department, this occurred in the 800 block of Old Scout Court in the Wild Meadows Subdivision off Fish Hatchery Road. Wild Meadows is a large mobile home community located near the office of Sharpe’s Septic Tank & Well Drilling Service.

Captain Myrick said that Christopher Ray, 19, is charged with attempted murder. His LCDC booking record also shows that he has since been charged with burglary and possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime. These charges were brought after deputies determined that Ray fired shots toward a home in that neighborhood. Myrick said there were no gunshot wounds associated with this incident indicating that no one was struck by any of the rounds.

After his arrest, Ray was booked into the Lexington County Detention Center where he faced a judge Monday at a bond hearing. As of Tuesday morning, the jail’s records indicate that he has been denied bond.
