Edmund, SC (Paul Kirby) – A collision Thursday evening at the intersection of Edmund Hwy. and South Lake Dr. blocked the intersection for a period until law enforcement and wreckers could arrive to clean up the mess. The collision happened at about 7:45 p.m. and closed the center of the intersection on the South Lake side and the west lanes of the road going toward Pelion.
A full-size pickup was severely damaged on both the front and rear ends. The extended cab style truck came to a stop on the raised concrete median that separates the lanes off South Lake. The SUV that was involved was heavily damaged on its front end and it stopped across the westbound lane of Edmund Highway.
Lexington County’s EMS and the fire service responded to assist the people who were in the vehicles at the time of the crash. The extent of the injuries to the occupants hasn’t been released.
The lanes of the road stayed closed until both vehicles and the debris could be cleared away. A SC state trooper stayed on the scene investigating the collision and filling out the necessary paperwork for the vehicle’s owners for quite some time after the crash.
