Lexington, SC - The Courage Center will hold a “Celebrate the Court and Picnic Pavilion Ribbon-Cutting” ceremony at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 15, 2020 at its campus located at 860 Park Road in Lexington.
Through generous support from a Central Carolina Community Foundation “Connected Communities” grant, a one-time capital appropriation from Lexington County Council, and a Missions award from Mt. Horeb United Methodist Church, The Courage Center has been able to add a full-length regulation basketball court and nearly 900 square-foot picnic pavilion to its four-acre property.
"It’s imperative to show adolescents and young adults who are misusing substances that they really can have a lot of fun without using drugs or alcohol," said Adrienne Bellinger, The Courage Center’s executive director. “Being able to add basketball and other outdoor activities to the fun indoor activities we already have, like pool, ping pong, and three different gaming systems, opens up new and exciting programming possibilities for the youth and families we serve.”
The facilities will allow new opportunities for The Courage Center’s adolescent, young adult, and parent participants to build strong new social connections and create new, healthy memories as they recover individually and together as families. The facilities also will be available to The Courage Center’s community partners and stakeholders to use for special activities.
The Courage Center is a 501(c)3 nonprofit that builds bridges between substance addiction prevention, treatment, and recovery by providing no-cost personal recovery coaching and peer support services and resource navigation.
