West Columbia, SC - Monday’s afternoon storms could not dampen the enthusiasm during a special delivery from Cyril B. Busbee Creative Arts Academy.
Teacher and archery coach Robin Gerzema met with North Central High School art teacher Jill Sorrells to deliver art and classroom supplies collected by Busbee, following a destructive tornado at the Kershaw County school earlier this year. Lexington Two schools are helping several North Central High teachers restock their classrooms over the long-term, as the school rebuilds. It is a way for Lexington Two to pay it forward for help the district has received from the community.
Gerzema said archery team members coordinated the school-wide donation drive at Busbee. They have played North Central teams in tournaments, she said, and they "felt it was an important factor of sportsmanship to ensure our neighboring students and teachers know they are cared for."
