Construction zone could cause traffic delays in Irmo on Lake Murray Boulevard

Irmo, SC (Paul Kirby) – As Lexington County continues to grow, construction of the community’s infrastructure and the area’s highways and byways also continues to grow. Often, road construction is just an everyday part of the growth and in order to reap the benefit of improved roads and other infrastructure, we must first endure the pain of the traffic problems that construction and improvements bring.

Currently, in order to make planning your commute as painless as possible, Chief Courtney Dennis and the men and women of the Irmo Police Department want you to know about some construction in that town so you can adjust your commute times accordingly. They say that construction crews have both the east and west bound lanes of Lake Murray Boulevard narrowed to just to one lane in the 1300 & 1400 blocks. This is in the busy area between Irmo Drive and Nursery Road.

Officers advise that motorists should reduce their speed before reaching the construction area and use caution in the zone to help ensure it’s safe. If sitting in a little traffic or having to slow down while travelling to and from your destination might cause you to be late, please add some extra time so that you’ll arrive alive and all of the workers in the construction zone will make it home unharmed at night too.
