Lexington County, SC (Paul Kirby) - Lexington County has introduced an easier way for residents to drop off Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) by setting up a schedule and letting you know where they will be to collect the things you no longer need. Household Hazardous Waste includes things like liquid paint, pesticides, fertilizer, fire extinguishers, pool chemicals, other garden chemicals, and more. Leaving these types of things laying around your home can be hazardous to you, your family, and may be an ugly surprise to emergency responders in the event of a fire or some other emergency.
Instead of waiting for a disposal event to come around, they have set up a drop-off schedule for specific dates and times that a HHW vendor will be at the Lexington County Collection and Recycling Center near you. Then, you can safely drop these things off and keep them from sitting around your house or outbuildings.
You can receive the HHW drop-off schedule for future dates via email or ask questions about the disposal of this material by contacting the County’s Recycling Coordinator, Traude Sander. She can be reached at tsander@lex-co.com.
