Suspect in Lexington drive-by shooting turns himself in

Lexington, SC (Paul Kirby) - Luther Monroe Harris, 20, turned himself in to Lexington County sheriff’s deputies Monday. He was wanted in a drive-by shooting that took place in a Lexington subdivision.

Harris and Colen Deanthony Simms, 19, are both accused of firing multiple shots from their car at two people who were standing on Blue Lake Lane. Lexington County Sheriff Jay Koon said that the drive-by was a result of a dispute over money. Simms was arrested earlier but Harris remained on the loose.

The sheriff’s department had put a great deal of pressure on Harris recently when they released his photograph to the public. That, plus the efforts of investigators to find him, eventually forced Harris to give up.

Harris was charged with attempted murder in connection with the August 2nd shooting according to an arrest warrant. He was been booked into the Lexington County Detention Center.
