Collision near Saxe Gotha School Tuesday evening requires Lifenet response

Red Bank, SC (Paul Kirby) – A serious vehicle collision on Old Orangeburg Road in front of Saxe Gotha Elementary School flipped one of the cars involved, seriously injuring at least one person. The call for help came into Lexington County at approximately 4:15 p.m. Tuesday afternoon.

Lexington County EMS and the fire service were dispatched to the wreck. The first firefighters on the scene reported that they had someone trapped in a vehicle that was involved. When EMS crews and their supervisors arrived, a medical helicopter was requested for the most seriously injured person. Traffic was slowed as people tried to turn down Old Orangeburg during the afternoon commute. There were law enforcement officers on the scene dealing with those motorists and assisting by protecting the emergency personnel who were working in the road.

There is no information available on the condition of the people that were involved in the collision. The SC Highway Patrol is in charge of investigating this incident.
