2021 Lexington County Ag + Art Tour is June 5-6th

Lexington, SC (05/12/2021) – The Lexington County Ag + Art tour has been scheduled for Saturday, June 5th and Sunday, June 6th, 2021. This is part of a larger effort by Clemson University Extension and its annual South Carolina Ag + Art Tour.

This year 11 counties are participating. Lexington County, Colleton County, and Charleston County were added to the eight that participated in the tours in 2020.

The Lexington County tour will feature 5 farm sites, over 40 artisans and 4 ancillary sites (agriculture and art-related) locations. The participating Lexington Country farms are Clinton Sease Farm, Fire Barrel Farm, Locklair Farm, Mercer House Winery, and The Farm.

Now in its ninth (9th) year, this free self-guided farm and art tour is a great way to educate people about where their food and fiber comes from, as well as introduce them to local artisans, says Will Culler, Clemson Extension Agribusiness Agent and Tour Director.

“Our regional tourism office is excited to host this event in Lexington County. Both locals and visitors will enjoy this fun agri-tourism event in our region,” stated Miriam Atria, President/CEO of the Capital City/Lake Murray Country Regional Tourism Region.

This year the tour will include farms and artisans in Charleston, Chester, Chesterfield, Colleton, Fairfield, Kershaw, Lancaster, Lexington, Newberry, Richland, and York Counties.

Different counties participate each weekend starting the last weekend in May and every weekend in June. The Lexington tour will be held June 5-6th.

Tour stops include farms and farmers markets with at least one form of art at each location. Artisans on the tour range from weavers, painters, musicians, storytellers, metalworkers and craftsmen, to poets and live musical performances. Some of the farms will offer value-added products, such as jarred and canned foods, honey, baked goods or even farm-fresh meals.

There is no fee to attend and visitors can start and stop their tour at any location they choose.
