3 dead in 2 separate traffic collisions in Lexington County Tuesday

Lexington County, SC 08/21/2024 (Paul Kirby) – 3 people died in 2 separate traffic collisions on Tuesday, August 20, 2024, in Lexington County. One collision occurred in the White Knoll area of the county and the other in the west Lexington area near Lexington High School.
According to Master Trooper William Bennett of the SC Highway Patrol (SCHP), the first collision occurred at about 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday afternoon at the intersection of Augusta Highway and Olde Farm Road. According to Bennett, a Kia was travelling north on Augusta Highway when a GMC Acadia that was traveling in the opposite direction on Augusta Highway attempted to make a left turn onto Olde Farm Road. The Kia struck the GMC causing substantial damage to both vehicles. The Kia had a driver and a passenger in it. The passenger of that car was later pronounced dead because of the injuries they sustained in the crash. The 2 people in the Acadia were not injured.
The second crash occurred at approximately 9:55 p.m. on Kyzer Road near Honors Court in the White Knoll area of Lexington County. According to Master Trooper Brandon Bolt of the SCHP, a Suzuki motorcycle was traveling west on Kyzer Road with a driver and a passenger. At some point, they struck a pedestrian that was crossing Kyzer road. The motorcycles driver lost control, left the road, and struck a wall and a tree. Both the motorcyclist and the pedestrian were killed because of this collision.
Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher has not yet released the identity of the people who died as a result of these crashes. Both collisions are being investigated by the SCHP and the Lexington County Coroner’s Office.
