Boiling Springs, SC 12/15/2023 - A 4-year-old boy has died after a fire on Thursday evening at a home in the Boiling Springs area of Lexington County
The Lexington County Fire Service responded to a call of a structure fire with possible entrapment around 6:30 p.m. on Thursday night at the 400 block of Peak Copper Court. The first units arrived within four minutes of being dispatched. On scene, crews found a two-story single-family home with heavy fire showing from the roof and the back of the house. Crews quickly began searching the interior of the home, extinguishing the fire, and requesting additional resources. The fire was brought under control just before 8:00 p.m.
The home was occupied by a family of five: two adults and three children. No other injuries were reported. The Red Cross is assisting the family at this time.
Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher has identified the child who died in the fire as Lucas Ramirez Rodriguez, 4, of Lexington. An autopsy is scheduled for Monday, December 18 at 10:30 a.m. at MUSC in Charleston.
The cause and origin of the fire are currently under investigation by the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED), the State Fire Marshals Office, the Lexington County Fire Service, and the Lexington County Sheriff's Department.
