Another collision on Old Dunbar Road claims motorist Tuesday

South Congaree, SC 06/29/2022 (Paul Kirby) – Another collision on Old Dunbar Road between South Congaree and Cayce has claimed a motorist’s life. This is the second fatal collision in that same area this week. The latest collision occurred at approximately 8:15 a.m. on June 28, 2022.



According to Master Trooper David Jones of the SCHP, a Honda sedan had stopped at the intersection of Creekside Road and Old Dunbar Road. The driver then attempted to turn left onto Old Dunbar Road toward Cayce when it was struck by Ford Fusion that was travelling west on Old Dunbar Road toward South Congaree. The Ford struck the Honda in the driver’s door killing the Honda’s driver. The operator of the Ford was transported to an area hospital with what has been described as non-life-threatening injuries.


This collision is still under investigation by the SC Highway Patrol.
