Batesburg-Leesville High forced to move prom because of inclement weather

Batesburg-Leesville 04/22/2021 - For months, students and staff at Batesburg-Leesville High School have eagerly been looking forward to a magical prom experience in the middle of historic Main Street in Leesville on Saturday, April 24th. While forecasts have called for rain on Saturday, administrators initially thought that students, staff, chaperones and other prom attendees could be protected from the elements with the use of tents that had gutters and side walls. However, with the forecast now calling for the likelihood of very heavy rain, possible flooding and the chance of storms, the difficult decision has been made to move the event to T&S Farm on Pond Branch Road.

“Regardless of whether we are at school or an extracurricular event, our top priority is always the safety of our students and staff. This was a very tough determination to have to make as we were so excited about hosting this year’s prom on Main Street in Leesville. The local business owners, Town of B-L, and Chamber of Commerce have been beyond supportive of our endeavor and we are forever grateful to them for their philanthropic spirit and willingness to provide a unique experience for our students,” said Sonya Bryant, Principal of Batesburg-Leesville High School. “We certainly appreciate T&S Farm helping us out on such short notice and know that their beautiful facilities are going to provide the perfect backdrop for this year’s prom and that students will make memories to last a lifetime.”
