Lexington, SC 02/24/2022 (Paul Kirby) – Bentley Pontoons is planning a multi-million-dollar expansion of its current facility on Two Notch Road just west of South Lake Drive in Lexington County. This is according to information released by the Central SC Alliance at centralsc.org.
Bentley makes high-quality, affordable pontoon boats in a variety of models. Many of the finished product’s components such as the fine furniture, canvas work, float tubes, and fence railing are all made inhouse by highly skilled craftsmen using the latest manufacturing equipment. According to their release, the company plans to invest almost $6 million-dollars and create 50 new, high-paying jobs at its current location at 1650 Two Notch Road, Lexington.
The expansion is expected to be complete by sometime in June. They are already looking for qualified employees now and people interested in working for Bentley can go through their website for more information. That website can be found at this link: https://bentleypontoons.com/contact-us.
According to Company President Ryan Marcott’s statement in the release, “Bentley Pontoons is thrilled to be expanding operations in South Carolina and greatly appreciates the support from the South Carolina Department of Commerce and the Lexington County Department of Economic Development through this entire process.”
SC Governor Henry McMaster also commented saying, “South Carolina’s boating industry has a massive economic impact on our state, and with Bentley Pontoons’ announcement – and others like it – that impact will only continue to grow. We are proud to have a homegrown company like Bentley Pontoons on our team and look forward to their success for many more years to come.”
The corridor where Bentley is located is a fast-growing area of moderate sized manufacturing facilities and industrial service businesses. Their neighbors include Sorinex, a company that manufactures professional weightlifting equipment, MAGNA Sign International, just across I-20 on Industrial Drive, Southway Crane and Rigging, and Lexington Commercial Truck and Trailer Repair. Lexington County School District One’s new Bus Depot is also under construction nearby.
This area buffers the larger manufacturing areas further down Industrial Drive. There, Micheline Tire North America has two tire plants, one makes tires for passenger vehicles and the other manufactures earthmover tires that ship worldwide, CMC Metals runs a large recycling facility, US Foods has a large distribution warehouse, and other several other industrial facilities are located.
According to Lexington County Council Chairman Scott Whetstone, Lexington County is fully behind Bentley’s growth and the further development of the area. “We are excited that Bentley Pontoons has decided to grow their operations here in Lexington County,” he stated about Bentley’s announcement. “This expansion will provide more job opportunities for our residents and more economic growth for our county moving forward.”
