Body of boater missing several weeks located

Lake Murray, SC 11/07/2021 (Paul Kirby) – According to Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher, the body of 36-year-old David Neil Grantham has been recovered. Grantham went missing on Lake Murray on October 26, 2021. His remains were located on Saturday, November 6, 2021.

Grantham had reportedly left a marina off US Hwy. 378 where his boat was kept about 3 a.m. the morning he disappeared. After failing to return, someone called the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department and reported him missing. This began a large multi-agency search of the lake that lasted for days.

According to a spokesman for the SC Department of Natural Resources, their officers were assisting with air assets when Grantham’s boat was spotted near Spence Island. Law enforcement patrol boats rushed to its location but there was no sign of Grantham.

Coroner Fisher said that no foul play is expected in Grantham’s death. She also said that no other information will be released.
