Body of missing Richland County teen found in Lexington County, suspects identified

Gilbert, SC – 04/29/2021 (Paul Kirby) – According to Richland County Sheriff Leon Lott, a kidnapping investigation that started across the river has led them to the body of a missing 15-year-old teen in Lexington County. Lexington County deputies and personnel from Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher’s Office are investigating after the body of Sanaa Amenhotep was found Thursday morning near Gilbert. She was first reported missing from her Northeast Richland County home on April 5th.


The crime scene near Quattlebaum Road and Bagpipe Road drew the attention of local residents Wednesday. When asked why LCSD personal were on the scene and what they were doing, a spokesman for Sheriff Koon said they were assisting in a death investigation after a kidnapping occurred in Richland County.

Sheriff Lott has also identified the suspects in this crime. He said that deputies are currently looking for 18-year-old Treveon Jamar Nelson. He's wanted for kidnapping Amenhotep. He was last seen leaving her home on April 5th of this year.


The RCSD already has one suspect in custody and charged with kidnapping. Sheriff Lott said that 17-year-old Jaylon Shyir Wilson is one of two men who they were believe were involved. He has already been arrested, charged, and is being held at the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center off Bluff Road.
