Lexington, SC 04/11/2023 (Paul Kirby) – Firefighters from the Lexington County Fire Service, assisted by Lexington County Sheriff’s Deputies and EMS crews, were dispatched to a camper fire in the 100 block of Fieldcrest Court off Old Cherokee Road out of Lexington Monday. According to Lexington County’s Spokesperson Jessica Imbimbo, when the first trucks and their crews arrived, they found the camper was fully ingulfed in flames. It was also threatening another building nearby.

Firefighters had to stretch a long supply line down the camper’s driveway in order to sustain a usable flow of water. After that was accomplished, water from other fire trucks on scene was used to extinguish the flames and protect the other structure. Imbimbo said that in total, about 2,500 gallons of water was used.

By the time things were contained, the Fire Service had 7 fire units on scene manned by 19 personnel. The camper was totally destroyed and there was also minor damage to the other building on the property. No injuries were reported, and the fire is under investigation at this time.
