Cayce, SC 04/30/2025 - The Cayce Fire Department has received the Fire Safe South Carolina Community designation. These designated communities continually work to reduce home fire-related injuries in South Carolina, thereby decreasing the risks for residents and firefighters. They promote consistent fire and life safety messaging and stress the importance of providing data collected in response to fires and other emergency calls for service.

To earn the designation, the Cayce Fire Department completed courses to increase local community risk reduction efforts, held opportunities for public education, and worked with partners, like the Courage Center, to provide outreach resources for the community.

Cayce’s Fire Chief, Steven Bullard, stated, “I am proud and excited to see our department receive this important designation. It is a testament to the work we are doing and the resources we are providing in our local Cayce communities.”

The department conducts Prescription Drug Take Back events, provides free fire and carbon monoxide alarm installations for Cayce residents, and recently launched a groundbreaking Equine Therapy pilot program to raise awareness about drug overdoses and addiction recovery.
