Cayce, SC 12/15/2022 (Paul Kirby) – Firefighters from the City of Cayce, assisted by crews from the City of West Columbia FD and the Lexington County Fire Service, responded to a fire at 1514 Middle Street in the city Wednesday. The fire, which was dispatched as a structure fire, was in a single-family home.
According to Ashley Hunter, spokesperson for the city, when firefighters arrived, there was smoke coming from the front of the structure. Firefighters searched the home, but they found that no one was home at the time of the fire. A short time after the arrival of the first firefighters, the combined crews brought the fire under control.
Hunter said Thursday that the cause of the fire is still under investigation.
