Cayce, SC 02/18/2022 (Paul Kirby) – The Cayce Police Department, working in conjunction with several state agencies, have temporarily shuttered an assisted living facility in the city. According to Ashley Hunter, spokesperson for the CPD, this was done after officers with the Cayce Police Department received a call about an unresponsive resident at the home early Friday morning. None of the agencies involved have given any indication if, or when the facility will ever be allowed to reopen.
According to Hunter, officers with the Cayce Police Department responded to a call about an unresponsive male at Twilite Manor, an adult assisted living facility located on Forrest Street in the city. When they arrived, they found one male who was a resident of the facility deceased. The Lexington County Coroner’s office was notified, and they had deputies from their department respond also.
After being on the scene a short time, Cayce Officers became concerned over the overall living conditions they observed. They notified the SC Department of Health and Environmental Control (DHEC), who regulates the assisted living facilities; and the Department of Social Services (DSS), as well as the families of the residents. Those agencies and family members began to remove the other residents of Twilite Manner and are working to find safe placement for them elsewhere. There are approximately 14 residents at the facility that are in the process of being relocated to other safe facilities.
Hunter said that the Cayce Police Department is investigating one death and are working to determine exactly what happened at the facility. If you have a family member living at Twilite Manor and have not already been in touch with the police, please contact the Cayce Police Department at 803-794-0456.
