Cayce Police Department investigating after body found in a room at the Masters Inn

Cayce, SC 01/06/2022 (Paul Kirby) – A spokesperson for the City of Cayce Police Department said late Thursday that investigators are working to determine what led up to the discovery of a body that was located in a room at the Masters Inn in the city on Thursday. Ashley Hunter said that the city police are currently working with Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher and her deputies after the discovery of the person’s body. The Masters Inn is located on 2125 Commerce Drive at the westbound exit ramp to I-26.

The Cayce Police Department has not said if any obvious act of violence attributed to this person's death. The person's identity and cause of death will be released by Coroner Fisher's office sometime over the next few days. Only then will we know if foul play was involved unless police say more prior to that release.

This is an active investigation in its very early stages. At this point, there is not much information that can be released.
