Cayce Police Department makes arrest in shooting incident that occurred earlier this week

Cayce, SC 02/04/2022 (Paul Kirby) – The Cayce Police Department was able to locate and arrest a suspect they had obtained warrants for after a shooting incident earlier this week. According to Ashely Hunter, spokesperson for the Cayce PD, police had obtained warrants for Dwight Xavier Jones, 44, on a multitude of changes after he fire shots into a woman’s home off Frink Street.
According to the Police Incident Report, a Cayce mother was outside her home when she saw the suspect she knew walking toward her. She went back into the home and was standing by her office desk when she heard three shot and the windows in the home breaking. At that time, she grabbed her child, ran into the home’s bathroom, laid on the floor, and notified the police.
Officer were able to identify the shooter with the help of the victim. They eventually were able to obtain warrants from attempted murder, discharging a firearm into a dwelling, possession of a firearm during a violent crime, discharge of a firearm within the city limits, and possession of a firearm by convicted felon.
Jones has now been arrested and booked into the Lexington County Detention Center where he is being held without bail at this point.
