Cayce resident makes Citadel’s spring 2020 Dean’s List

Cayce, SC (Paul Kirby) - Evan Dawkins, a native of Cayce, earned a place on The Citadel’s Dean’s List for the spring of 2020. Dawkins also will be celebrating a traditional Ring Presentation Ceremony at 5:00 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 25, in McAlister Field House.

Evan is the son of Karen and Dwayne Dawkins of Cayce, and grandson of Melba Murphy of West Columbia. He plans to graduate with a degree in Criminal Justice and a minor in Spanish Language. After graduation, Evan plans on attending law school.

The Dean’s List is a recognition given for course work in a semester by those students who have earned 12 or more semester hours. This excludes Pass-Fail hours. Those students who have a grade-point average that is 3.200 or higher, with no grade of “I” and no grade below “C” are placed on the Dean’s List each quarter. Each cadet who is named to the Dean’s List receives several special items and insignias to commemorate their achievement.  

According to the Citadel, the medal is worn on the cadet uniform during the following semester. They also receive and can wear Gold Stars if the student on the Dean’s List made a grade-point average of 3.700 or higher for the work of a semester, These stars can only be worn on the cadet uniform if the cadet earned them in the previous semester.
