Cayce searching for man who ran from police, driving under suspension, being a habitual offender

Cayce, SC 01/19/2023 (Paul Kirby) – This week, the City of Cayce’s Police Department is searching for a man that they’ve had warrants for since the fall of last year. Each week, the Cayce Police Department publishes information on a fugitive that they’ve obtained a warrant/s for but have been unable to locate for one reason or another. It’s their hope that someone will recognize the fugitive from justice featured that week and make a tip that would lead to an arrest. To date, they have had several instances where they were able to locate and capture alleged criminals who have been evading them for long periods of time with the public’s assistance.

This week, they are featuring Ega Reta Lake. Lake is a 55-year-old Caucasian man. The last photo the Police Department has of Lake shows he has a light complexion, brown hair, and a grey, thin goatee and mustache. At that time, Lake weighed approximately 215 pounds and is 5 feet 9 inches tall.

On November 8, 2022, Lake was observed by police driving a black Ford F-150 pickup with an expired tag. Police attempted to pull Lake over when he initiated a vehicle pursuit. After making several evasive maneuvers, Lake abandoned the truck and fled the scene on foot. After an exhaustive search that night, police were unable to locate Lake. Police did have enough evidence that was presented to a judge, and they obtained a warrant for Lake’s arrest. His charges include Failure to Stop for Blue Lights, Driving Under Suspension 3rd, and being a Habitual Offender.

If you know Lake or recognize him from his photo, please notify the Cayce Police Department. You can do that by calling the Cayce Police Department directly at (803) 794-0456 ext. #1 or CRIME STOPPERS at 1-888-CRIME SC (888 274-6372).
