Cayce, SC (Paul Kirby) - The Greater Cayce-West Columbia Chamber of Commerce has announced that they will host a Meet the Candidate forum for those who have filed to run for Lexington School District Two’s Board of Trustees. In an emailed release Tuesday, the chamber’s leadership said candidates will have a brief amount of time to introduce themselves and share anything else they'd like the audience to know about their run for office. If time allows, a question-and-answer session will wrap up the event.
This event is scheduled for October 20, 2020 at the district’s Innovation Center located at 509 Bulldog Boulevard in Cayce. It is expected to begin at 6:00 p.m.
Nine (9) Candidates have filed to run for four (4) available board seats:
Beth Dickerson Branham (i)
Abbott (Tre) Bray
Liz Chitty Castles
Joseph (Chuck) Hightower
Cindy Kessler (i)
Kevin Key (i)
Robin Milton
Johnny Payne
Paige Salonich
Board member and Chairman William H. "Bill" Bingham Jr. is not running for re-election.
CDC guidelines will be in place and face masks are mandatory per district policy. Additionally, all attendees must always maintain 6 feet of social distancing during the event. Families and individuals who ride to the event together can sit together. However, 6 feet social distancing should be allotted from other individuals/groups whenever possible.
The election is set for November 3. Polls are open from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m.
Lexington Two includes public schools in Cayce, West Columbia, Pine Ridge, Springdale and South Congaree.
