Chapin, SC 05/20/2025 (Paul Kirby) – The leaders of the Chapin Police Department are taking to social media to make area businesses aware of a new scam! Apparently, an individual is falsely claiming to represent Town of Chapin, South Carolina’s Town Hall. They are asking local businesses to donate items for “welcome baskets” to be given to new residents. Police say that this is not a legitimate request from the Town of Chapin or any of its affiliated departments.
Police ask that if you are contacted by someone making this kind of request, do not provide any goods or personal information to them. Please report the incident to the Chapin Police Department at (803) 345-6443.
The town of Chapin appreciates their local businesses and want to make sure they’re protected from fraudulent activity.
