City of Cayce presents Sanitation Team with Whole Sole Award after assisting resident who fell

Cayce, SC (Paul Kirby) 12/09/2020 – The City of Cayce recently presented its Whole Sole Award to three members of their Sanitation Team for actions they took when a city resident was in distress. These team members witnessed the woman fall and immediately stopped their route and rendered aid until she could be further assisted by family

According to Ashley Hunter, spokesperson for the City of Cayce, the crew was working their route on October 27th, 2020 when they witnessed a woman fall in proximity to her home. The three team members, Johnny Adkin, James Jeffcoat, and James Wise, immediately went to her, wiped the blood from her face and applied a bandage to her nose. They stayed with the woman comforting her, monitoring her, and ensuring she was steady on her feet so that she could get back home.

While publicly recognizing Wise, Jeffcoat, and Adkin for their actions, Cayce’s Mayor Elise Partin thanked the men for being a part of the city's team. She said they had gone above and beyond in their service to the community and was thankful they were a part of the city’s, “culture of caring.”

Partin noted during the recognition of the team that they did not do what they did to receive accolades but because it was the right thing to do. She said the city only found out about the gentlemen’s actions because the citizen herself wanted to make officials and her community aware of the men’s good deed and of how thankful she was for their kindness. The woman spread the word by bragging about the men on social media platforms like Facebook and Next Door and telling everyone she knew how grateful she was for the men’s actions. In her post the woman said she was, “overwhelmed by their kindness.”

In Cayce, the Whole Sole Award is presented ro members of theirs staff that go above and beyond for the residents, businesses, or the city.
