Clifford Fisher’s horse Naked dies last week after making last public relations appearances at the South Congaree Championship Rodeo

Red Bank, SC 04/01/2024 (Paul Kirby) – Clifford Fisher’s horse Naked died last week after a sudden illness. She was 29 years old.

Clifford Fisher is a Red Bank area businessman and husband of Lexington County Coroner Margret Fisher. He is also a reserve deputy with the Richland County Sheriff’s Department and one of the few people who can train a police horse to do that type of work in this part of the country. He is also currently running for Lexington County Council Seat 5. Fisher also owns Abraham the Camel who is probably the most well-known, and recognized camel in South Carolina. Abraham is known for his appearances in local parades, at schools, many churches, and most importantly his work in the Christmas Musical Drama “Jesus is His Name.”

Naked was a horse that was trained to do police work. She worked many major events across the Midlands. You could see her and Fisher working crowd control at home USC football games, and high school sporting events across Richland County. She also was a big hit at events where children could pet her, many of whom had never been that close to a horse before. These events were done by Fisher and Naked in a volunteer capacity with Fisher footing the cost out of his pocket.

Fisher appeared with Naked on both Friday and Saturday nights at The South Congaree Championship Rodeo. Fisher was dressed as a two-gun slinging cowboy and Naked sat stock still in that huge crowd as hundreds of people passed and many stopped to pet her and speak with Fisher. This was on March 22nd and 23rd of this year. The following week she suddenly fell ill and after consulting her veterinarian, she was determined to be terminal and had to be put down. She was buried in the pasture she loved of McLee Road in the Red Bank area of the county.

Fisher said after her death, “She was a real blessing and a one-of-a-kind horse. She’ll be missed.”
