Columbia Man Sentenced To Life in Lexington County Murder

Lexington, SC 07/23/2026 - Tyrese “Rese” Glascho, a 27 year old Columbia man, has been sentenced to Life in prison following his conviction in Lexington County for Murder, Attempted Murder, Armed Robbery, Criminal Conspiracy, and Possession of a Weapon during commission of a Violent Crime. Judge Walton J. McLeod, IV imposed the life sentence on the murder charge and handed down concurrent sentences on the remaining charges. Glascho is not eligible for parole under South Carolina law.

Glascho was convicted for the murder of Emily Renee Zeigler, age 55, who was shot in the Pine Grove Road area of Lexington County on June 7, 2023.  The trial began on July 13^th and concluded on Friday, July 17^th when the jury returned its guilty verdicts on all charges.  

This case was prosecuted by Eleventh Circuit Deputy Solicitor Suzanne Mayes, Assistant Solicitor Jordan Cox, and Assistant Solicitor Kaitlyn Grigsby. The murder investigation was conducted by the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department (LCSD) Major Crimes Unit.

Eleventh Circuit Solicitor Rick Hubbard stated, “This was a senseless act of violence – carried out with a complete disregard for human life. Our office remains committed in our mission to protect our community from violent offenders. Our thoughts remain with Emily Zeigler’s family as they continue to heal from this tragic loss.”

Around 2:00 am in the early morning hours of June 7, 2023, Glascho and a co-defendant went to the 600 block of Pine Grove Road where they opened fire on a male victim who was seated inside of a Lexus vehicle parked in a driveway. The male victim sustained multiple gunshot wounds and was robbed of personal belongings. As this crime was occurring, Emily Zeigler – a nearby resident - opened the front door of her home after hearing a disturbance outside. Zeigler was shot in the chest at the front entrance to her home. She died shortly thereafter as a result of a single gunshot wound to the heart. The investigation determined that Zeigler was an innocent bystander who had no known connection to the shooters.

 The male victim was critically injured and transported to the Prisma Health Trauma Unit by LifeNet helicopter. He was able to communicate to a responding deputy that he was shot by “Rese.”

Glascho and the co-defendant fled the scene. They were later apprehended as a result of several leads in the case, including a palm print at the crime scene which CSI determined was a match to the co-defendant. An examination of social media communications and cell phone records confirmed that Glascho and the co-defendant had been in contact on June 6^th, just hours before the crime occurred.

 At trial, testimony established that Glascho and the co-defendant had planned to rob the male victim who was seated in the Lexus. Both Glascho and the co-defendant arrived at the 600 Pine Grove location armed with pistols. LCSD crime scene investigators found physical evidence of at least eleven (11) fired cartridge cases at the crime scene, including eight from a .40 caliber weapon and three from a 9mm weapon. Inside the blood stained Lexus, crime scene investigators found fired bullets that were .40 caliber and 9 mm. In addition, CSI evidence established that shots were fired in the direction of Zeigler’s residence and front entryway to her home. 

Family members of the victim, Emily Zeigler, addressed the court during sentencing to convey the impact of her loss.

Glascho has been transported to the S.C. Department of Corrections to begin immediate service of the sentence.
