Congratulate Chief Chris Garner for being the first recipient of the Pelion Police Department Commitment To Excellence Award.

Pelion, SC 07/22/2026 - The Pelion Police Department wants to Congratulate Chief Chris Garner for being the first recipient of the Pelion Police Department Commitment To Excellence Award.

The recognition is awarded monthly by the Department to members of the Community, who go above and beyond to support the Town, Schools, and Citizens.

The Department's Captain Odell says they wanted to give the first award to Chief Garner for "Leading the department, and advocating for the necessary training, resources, and equipment to properly protect and serve the residents and students in the Pelion Community."

Town Councilwoman Starr Corley says "He (Chief Garner) has brought stability to the agency through his professionalism, leading the Police Department in the right direction." She goes on to say that "Pelion is growing By leaps and bounds, and we are fortunate to have someone with the Chief's caliber as we continue to grow."
