Gaston, SC 05/20/2024 (Paul Kirby) - Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher said Sunday evening that a bicyclist has died after he was struck by a vehicle in the 700 block of Woodtrail Drive in the Gaston area of the county at approximately 2:31 p.m. on May 9, 2024.
According to Coroner Fisher, Diego Federico Suarez-Pelaez, 59, of Gaston was riding his bicycle on Woodtrail Drive when he was struck by a vehicle. Suarez-Pelaez was transported to an area hospital where he was pronounced dead on Friday, May 17, 2024, due to the injuries he sustained in the collision.
The Lexington County Coroner’s Office and South Carolina Highway Patrol continue to investigate the incident.
