Coroner Fisher identifies bicyclist killed in crash last week

Lexington, SC 08/28/2023 (Paul Kirby) – Over the weekend, Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher released the identity of the man who died when two vehicles hit him on his bicycle in the 5300 block of Highway 321 in Gaston last week.

According to Coroner Fisher, the victim was Philip C. Allen, 29, of Gaston. He was riding his bicycle westbound when he attempted to cross Highway 321. Two vehicles travelling north toward Cayce hit him. Allen was transported to an area hospital where he was pronounced dead due to his injuries sustained in the accident.

The South Carolina Highway Patrol and the Lexington County Coroner’s Office continue to investigate the incident.
