Coroner Fisher identifies Charleston man as the victim of fatal collision on I-26 at I-77

Cayce, SC 10/17/2021 (Paul Kirby) - Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher has identified the pedestrian who was killed after being struck by a vehicle on Friday, October 15, 2021. According to Fisher and the SCHP, the collision happened just after 7:00 a.m. on I-26 near the 115 mile-marker or the I-77 interchange.

According to Coroner Fisher, Eric Timothy Teitloff, 32, of Charleston, was walking across the interstate when he was struck by a vehicle. The driver of that vehicle was not injured stopped and remained on scene until the arrival of law enforcement. Teitloff was pronounced dead at the scene due to his injuries.


Troopers from the South Carolina Highway Patrol, assisted by officers from The Cayce Department of Public Safety, closed the westbound lanes of I-77 for a time Friday as the patrol’s M.A.I.T. Team investigated the collision. At this point, no findings from that investigation have been released.
