Coroner Fisher identifies missing man found in Amazon's stormwater retention pond

Cayce, SC 12/14/2023 - On December 11, 2023, at approximately 1:20 p.m. the Lexington County Coroner’s Office was called to the Amazon fulfillment center in the 4400 block of 12th Street Extension in the Cayce area of Lexington County. This call was in reference to a body that was found in the stormwater retention pond. Personnel from that Fisher's office and the Lexington Sheriff’s Department responded and recovered the body.

Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher has now identified the decedent as that of Jerrold George Dejean, 19 years old, of Gaston. Dejean was reported missing on November 30, 2023.

An autopsy has been scheduled at MUSC in Charleston on December 15, 2023, at 11:30 AM.  

The Lexington County Coroner’s Office as well as the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department is continuing to investigate.
