Lexington, SC 12/03/2023 (Paul Kirby) - On Sunday, December 10, 2023, Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher released the idetitiy of the decedent and the details of a collision that occcurred on Fairview Road (Hwy 178) earlier that morning. According to Fisher, this was a single-vehicle accident that took place in the 5800 block of Fairview Road in the Batesburg area of Lexington County. It happened at approximately 12:30 a.m. on December 10, 2023.
Coroner Fisher said that theidentity of the deceased was Anthony Davon Leaphart, 46, of Leesville. Leaphart was traveling eastbound on Fairview Road when the vehicle he was operating left the right side of the roadway and hit a tree. Leaphart, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was pronounced dead at the scene due to the injuries he sustained in the accident.
The South Carolina Highway Patrol and the Lexington County Coroner’s Office continue to investigate the incident.
