Coroner Fisher identifies the man who died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound after shooting woman

Lexington, SC - 02/11/2021 (Paul Kirby) - Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher released the identity of the man that died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound he sustained earlier this week. Fisher said the man was Raymond Antonio Metze, 28, of Leesville.

Metze died in a wooded area at the end of Adams Terrace Court in Dixiana. That morning, Metze abducted a woman from the Lexington area with whom he had previously been in a relationship. He shot her multiple times before he turned the gun on himself. The women that he shot is expected to make a full recovery.

The Lexington County Sheriff’s Department is investigating the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
