Coroner Fisher identifies the victim of the Old Cherokee Road crash as a Pelion area teen

Lexington, SC 11/18/2022 (Paul Kirby) - Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher has now positively identified the individual who died in a single-vehicle accident on Old Cherokee Road Thursday night as a 19-year-old Pelion area teen. Fisher said that the collision occurred shortly after 9:30 pm on November 17, 2022.

According to Coroner Fisher, Brier Murray Hudson, 19, of Pelion was traveling westbound on Old Cherokee Road when the truck he was the passenger in left the roadway and overturned. Hudson, who was not wearing a seatbelt at the time, was pronounced dead at the scene due to the injuries sustained in the accident. The driver of the vehicle, who was also not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident, was transported to a local hospital with serious injuries.


The Lexington County Coroner’s Office as well as the South Carolina Highway Patrol and their MAIT team continue to investigate the incident.
