Coroner Fisher identifies victim in Sunday afternoon shooting in Lexington

Lexington, SC 06/28/2021 (Paul Kirby) - Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher has identified the individual who was fatally shot at a home in the 100 block of Freedom Drive in the Town of Lexington Sunday afternoon. The coroner’s team was dispatched to the scene around 5:30 p.m. after police officers found a man dead at that location.


According to Coroner Fisher, Parrish Scott Phillips, 49, of Lexington was pronounced dead on the scene from multiple gunshot wounds to the upper body. This has shooting has not yet been classified as a homicide.

The appropriate classification and a determination as to whether a crime was committed Sunday will come after investigators complete their interviews, exam all the evidence, and the receive the results of an autopsy from Fisher’s office. They will also work with Eleventh Circuit Solicitor Rick Hubbard’s office to determine if charges are warranted and if so, what those might be.


The Town of Lexington Police Department along with the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division is continuing to investigate the incident.
