Coroner Fisher identifies victim in vehicle versus motorcycle crash Monday evening

Lexington, SC 05/10/2022 (Paul Kirby) - Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher has released the identity of the rider who died because of a motorcycle versus pickup truck crash Monday evening. According to Coroner Fisher, Shane Lee Baxley, 44, of Lexington was the motorcycle’s operator. The collision happened at the intersection of Jim Spence Road and Pat Road just before 6:30 p.m.

According to Coroner Fisher and the SC Highway Patrol, Baxley was traveling eastbound on Jim Spence Road toward SC Hwy. 6 when he collided with a vehicle attempting to turn west toward Edmund Hwy. onto Jim Spence Road from Pat Road. Baxley was not wearing a helmet at the time of the accident and was pronounced dead at the scene due to injuries sustained in the collision. The driver of the pickup was not injured and remained on scene.


The incident is being investigated by the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
