Coroner Fisher identifies victim of vehicle versus pedestrian collision on Sunday evening
Gaston, SC (Paul Kirby) - Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher has identified the pedestrian who was killed after being struck by a vehicle near Gaston Sunday evening. The accident occurred on Highway 321 south near Busbee Road shortly after 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 1, 2020.
According to Coroner Fisher, John Scott Castner, 52, of Gaston was pronounced dead at the scene due to his injuries. She also said Castner was walking in the roadway when he was struck by a vehicle driving toward Columbia. The driver of the vehicle, who was uninjured, stopped at the scene.
The South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating the incident. The SCHP said Sunday that they did not expect to bring any charges against the driver of the vehicle.
