Coroner Fisher identifies victims of Neely Wingard Road crash

Lexington, SC 05/19/2025 - Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher has positively identified the two people who died in a two-vehicle collision at the intersection of Neely Wingard Road and Ben Franklin Road in the Fairview / Pond Branch area of Lexington County on May 18, 2025. This collision occurred at approximately 9:00 p.m. that night.
According to Coroner Fisher, Claire Ann Pierce, 22, of Lexington was a passenger in a vehicle traveling southbound on Neely Wingard Road when the vehicle was struck by another vehicle traveling eastbound on Ben Franklin Road. Pierce was pronounced dead at the scene. Another passenger, 21-year-old, Eliza Jane Udy, of Leesville was transported to an area hospital where she was pronounced dead due to the injuries sustained in the collision. The driver was transported to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The driver of the other vehicle was also transported to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The Lexington County Coroner’s Office, the South Carolina Highway Patrol MAIT, and the South Carolina Highway Patrol continue to investigate the incident.

Accidents like this are heartbreaking. It's so sad that Claire and Eliza lost their lives. I got this news last night while playing basketball legends and my hands and feet were cut off. You never know when these things can happen. My condolences to their families. I hope justice is served.
