Coroner Fisher provides details on workplace incident that killed 1 at Michelin Tire Plant last week

Lexington, SC 04/17/2024 (Paul Kirby) - Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher released a statement over the weekend providing more details into the fatal workplace incident that killed 1-man last week at the Michelin Tire production plant just west of the Town of Lexington. She also released the deceased individual’s name.
According to Coroner Fisher, Mark S. Lepkowski, 57, who was a resident of the Pelion area of Lexington County, died on Thursday, April 13, 2023, while working at the Michelin Plant located at 2420 Two Notch Road. Fisher said this happened shortly before 9:30 A.M. on April 13, 2023.
According to Coroner Fisher, Lepkowski was found pinned between some machinery by co-workers. Lexington County EMS responded and transported Lepkowski to an area hospital where he was later pronounced dead. An autopsy was performed on Friday that revealed that Lepkowski’s preliminary cause of death as compressional asphyxia.
