Lexington, SC 08/28/2023 (Paul Kirby) - Lexington County Coroner, Margaret Fisher has identified the elderly man who died as the result of a vehicle vs. pedestrian collision in the 1500 block of Bush River Road around 10:00 p.m. Friday night. This is collision occurred near the intersection of Bush River Road and Ivanhoe Drive.
According to Coroner Fisher, Jacob Roy Jones Jr., 68, of Columbia, was crossing Bush River Road when he was struck by a Hyundai sedan traveling northbound on Bush River Road. Jones was pronounced dead on scene due to his injuries sustained in the accident.
The South Carolina Highway Patrol and the Lexington County Coroner’s Office continue to investigate the incident.
