Coroner Fisher releases the identity of woman who died in Old Charleston Road vehicle crash Monday

Lexington, SC 07/04/2023 (Paul Kirby) - Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher has now released the identity of the driver who was killed in a collision in the Town of Pelion Monday. According to Fisher, this multiple-vehicle crash happened at approximately noon in the 700 block of Old Charleston Road near the Lexington County Airport and the Lexington County Sheriff Department’s South Region Headquarters.

According to Coroner Fisher, Madison Taylor Hayden, 21, of Gaston was traveling northbound toward Lexington on Old Charleston Road when she first struck a dump truck. She was then hit by another vehicle before coming to an abrupt stop. Hayden, who was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident, was pronounced dead at the scene due to injuries from this crash.

The Pelion Police Department and the Lexington County Coroner’s Office continue to investigate the incident.
