Coroner Fisher reports on vehicle versus pedestrian fatal collision on Saturday night

Lexington, SC 02/26/2024 (Paul Kirby) - Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher has identified the individual who died in a vehicle vs. pedestrian accident in the 800 block of Old Cherokee Road near Lexington Saturday night. Christopher was pronounced dead at the scene. Fisher has also provided some details as to how the collision occurred.

According to Coroner Fisher, Steven Ezell Christopher, 51, of Lexington was walking westbound when a vehicle traveling westbound left the right side of the roadway and struck him. The driver of the vehicle left the scene of the accident and returned on Sunday, February 25 to report the accident.

The Lexington County Coroner’s Office, South Carolina Highway Patrol, and South Carolina Highway Patrol MAIT continue to investigate the incident.
