Coroner identifies victim of single vehicle crash near Swansea

Lexington, SC 01/17/2021 (Paul Kirby) – Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher has identified the individual who died as a result of a single-vehicle collision that occurred at approximately 8:40 p.m. on January 15, 2021. The collision occurred on Sharon Church Road near Antioch Church Road north of the town of Swansea.

According to Coroner Fisher, Walter Mark Cassidy, 53, of Swansea was pronounced dead at the scene due to his injuries. The SC Highway Patrol said Saturday that Cassidy’s vehicle left the right side of the roadway, he over corrected, crossed back over the road where he went off the left side, through the ditch, and then overturn. Cassidy was wearing a seatbelt.
