Cayce, SC (Paul Kirby) - Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher released the name of the man who died in a single vehicle collision around 3:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 31st, 2020. The collision occurred on the onramp to I-77 northbound from I- 26. According to Coroner Fisher, Allen Ozoris Evans, 31, of Columbia was pronounced dead at the scene of the collision due to injuries he sustained in the wreck.
Fisher confirmed what the South Carolina Highway Patrol had found in their investigation. Evans was on the ramp to I-77 north when he lost control of his vehicle in a sharp curve. He left the roads surface, crossed over a grass median, struck a portion of the bridge overpass’ structure before traveling down an embankment where his the wreckage of his vehicle came to rest. Evans was not wearing his seat belt at the time of the collision.
The SCHP has not said what made Evans lose control of his vehicle. This investigation is ongoing.
