Lexington, SC – 04/25/2021 (Paul Kirby) – Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher has released the identity of the young woman who was killed in a collision on Augusta Road near Kitti Wake Drive Saturday night. Fisher said Sunday that he deceased was Rachel L. Harsey, 27, of Gilbert.
According to a release from the SCHP earlier Sunday, Harsey was turning out of a private drive onto Augusta Road (US Hwy 1) when she was struck in the door by a car travelling south on that highway. Harsey was wearing a seatbelt but died at the scene as a result of injuries she sustained in the collision. The driver of the vehicle that hit Harsey was injured and was transported to a local medical facility by Lexington County EMS.
The collision is currently under investigation by the SCHP.
