Coroner Margaret Fisher identifies person killed in collision Tuesday

Lexington, SC – 05/05/2021 (Paul Kirby) – Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher has identified the woman who died in a single-vehicle collision that occurred in the 2100 block of Broad Street near Batesburg-Leesville Tuesday evening. Fisher said the victim was Rhonda Faye Beaty, 56, of Leesville.

According to Coroner Fisher, Beaty was pronounced deceased at an area hospital. She had been transported from the scene by Lexington County EMS but later succumbed to her injuries.


SC State troopers said yesterday that Beaty’s vehicle veered off the right side of the road and collided with a tree. She was the only occupant of the vehicle and was not wearing a seat belt when the incident occurred.


The South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating this collision.
